Toronto Arrows Support Clubs & Schools Through Grassroots Assistance Program
2 November 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TORONTO, ON – The Toronto Arrows are pleased to share details about the team’s new Grassroots Assistance Program, an initiative aimed at ensuring Canadian grassroots rugby programs from coast to coast receive a funding boost through Canada’s first professional rugby union team.
In conjunction with the club’s 2020 season ticket offering, Canada’s Major League Rugby team has pledged to support grassroots rugby through its Grassroots Assistance Program by returning 20% of adult, youth and senior season ticket sales to participating rugby clubs and schools.
To be included in this initiative, clubs and schools first need to register to participate in the Grassroots Assistance Program. Once registered, GAP clubs and schools will receive a unique code that can be entered whenever an Arrows 2020 season ticket package* is purchased; GAP organizations will then receive 20% of the sales attributed to their code.
Proceeds can be used to fill a funding ‘GAP’ — from ordering new jerseys or planning a milestone anniversary tour, to supplying cleats for new players or offsetting junior program costs, funds raised through the Grassroots Assistance Program can help clubs and schools reach their funding goals.

The GAP sales period will run until Dec. 31, 2019, with all funds transferred to registered organizations in January 2020.
To register for the Grassroots Assistance Program, please contact Daisy Morris, Director of Community and Fan Engagement, by clicking HERE to enlist your club or school or to receive additional information about the program. Any Canadian elementary school, secondary school, or post-secondary school is eligible to register, as well as any club across Canada in good standing with its provincial union.
“Rugby is a sport centred around community,” said Arrows President and General Partner Bill Webb. “Canada’s grassroots rugby programs are the backbone of our sport. You just have to look at our roster to see the impact grassroots rugby has had on our team; each of our players has a strong connection with a grassroots club that has helped put them on a path to becoming a professional.”
“With this principle in mind, the Arrows are pleased to support our nation’s clubs and schools. Grassroots rugby programs offer so much to their communities, from the camaraderie developed on the pitch to the values instilled off of it, and we’re looking forward to giving back to the clubs and schools that ensure our sport is played across Canada.”
The Arrows will begin their second campaign in North America’s top flight professional rugby league with a road match against the Austin Herd on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020. Following seven consecutive matches played away from Toronto, the club will play seven of its final nine matches at home between April 4 and May 31 to close out its sophomore MLR regular season.
Regular season ticket packages are priced at $200 for adults / $120 for youth (4-17) and seniors (65+), and provide access to general admission seating for all Arrows home games, as well as a series of perks that range from special event access to Arrows merchandise discounts.
Season ticket packages can be purchased online at https://torontoarrows.com/tickets or by calling Arrows ticketing staff at 647-847-7700.
*Please note that Grassroots Assistance Program funds apply to regular season ticket packages, and do not apply to VIP season ticket packages

It is a great platform to generate interest at the club level with an injection of funds to the organizations that play a critical role in the growth of rugby across Ontario.”
