STARTING XV: ONTARIO ARROWS NAME LINEUP FOR SECOND LEG OF CANADA SELECTS SERIES
Ontario Arrows head coach Chris Silverthorn has named his starting lineup for Saturday’s away match against the Canada Selects.
The Arrows will be entering the British Columbia leg of the two-match spring series looking to rebound following last Friday’s 19-0 loss to the Selects in Toronto.
Silverthorn has made six changes to his starting lineup that featured at York Lions Stadium last week. Prop Clint Lemkus and lock Tom Van Horne will both start the match after coming in off the bench last Friday, while the remainder of the forwards are unchanged. Last week’s starters Shawn Windsor and Aaron McLelland move to fly-half and full-back respectively, while wing Kyle Lagasca and centre Mitch Richardson draw in after coming on as substitutes in last Friday’s fixture.
“We’re looking forward to getting right back out there following last week’s match,” said Silverthorn. “We want to respond strongly, and the back-to-back nature of this series gives us an opportunity to take the lessons we learned from our first match and put them to good use right away.”
Three current Arrows have been selected for inclusion into the Canada Selects’ squad – lock Paul Ciulini, scrum-half Andrew Ferguson, and wing Kainoa Lloyd. Both Ciulini and Lloyd scored tries in last week’s fixture.
Squad Notes:
– Lemkus and Van Horne will make their first starts for the club
– Goos and Thiel are in contention to make their club debuts off the substitutes’ bench
– Four squad members are Canada Under-20 program grads: Kelly (2017), Milazzo (2016), Richardson (2016), Thiel (2016); Post is a Hong Kong Under-20 program grad
Saturday’s match will be played at Westhills Stadium in Langford, B.C., and will kick off at 8 p.m. EDT (5 p.m. PDT / local time).
The game can be streamed live through Rugby Canada’s Facebook page.
