Toronto Arrows Announce Quartet of Returnees for 2022

TORONTO, ON – The Toronto Arrows Rugby Football Club is pleased to announce a second group of significant signings ahead of the 2022 Major League Rugby season.
The club is excited to confirm that Sam Malcolm, Jack McRogers, Ollie Nott, and Marc-Antoine Ouellet are all returning for the upcoming campaign.
Sam Malcolm
Fly-half / Fullback | Wanganui, New Zealand

Malcolm, 25, is back for a fourth season with the club following his return to the Arrows near the end of the 2021 campaign after a short stint with the Kamaishi Seawaves of Japan’s Top Challenge League. The Kiwi first signed with the Arrows in 2019 from New Zealand National Provincial Championship side Manawatu.
The 5’9”, 175lb back has featured in 24 matches (23 starts) for the Arrows between 2019 and 2021, and holds club records in several statistical categories, including points (220), conversions (58), penalty goals (32), goal kicking accuracy (85.7%), and kicking metres (3,239).
Malcolm’s career totals include 664 carry metres on 73 carries, 215 tackles (89.6% completion), 10 dominant tackles, eight tackle breaks, six offloads, three linebreaks, one breakdown steal, and one try. The New Zealander’s impressive performances throughout the club’s inaugural season landed him a spot on the All-MLR 2nd XV in 2019.
The Kiwi also holds the distinction of being the only non-Canadian to captain the Arrows in a MLR match.

Jack McRogers
Hooker | Newmarket, Ontario

McRogers, 22, has made 18 appearances (seven starts) for the Arrows over his three seasons with the club, with 16 of those contests coming in last year’s campaign; of the 42 players to step onto the pitch in blue and white throughout the 2021 season, the young hooker was the only Arrow to feature in every match.
The front row stalwart has collected 228 carry metres on 52 carries, 107 tackles, six tackle breaks, two linebreaks and two tries across his first three seasons in Major League Rugby. He also holds the all-time franchise lead* in tackle completion (95.5%), having only missed five tackles across 18 career matches.
The 5’10”, 240lb forward is a graduate of the Ontario Blues junior men’s provincial program and the McMaster Marauders post-secondary program, represented the Canada under-20s in 2017 (as an under-ager) and 2018, and played his grassroots rugby with the Aurora Barbarians.

Ollie Nott
Flanker | Victoria, British Columbia

Nott, 26, returns to the Arrows after making three appearances (two starts) for the club as a late-season signee in 2021. The loose forward fared well in his first taste of Major League Rugby action, accruing 23 tackles (88.5% completion), 51 carry metres on 15 carries, 49 ruck arrivals, four lineout takes, and three tackle breaks.
The 6’2”, 225lb forward is a full Canadian international (two caps), earning his Canada debut at the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship. He also represented the Canada under-20s in 2015.
Nott is a graduate of the British Columbia Bears senior men’s provincial program and Rugby Canada’s Pacific Pride national development program, and played his grassroots rugby with the University of Victoria Vikes in the British Columbia Premiership.

Marc-Antoine Ouellet
Prop | Quebec, Quebec

Ouellet, 26, is back for a second campaign at the club after making five appearances in his debut season.
The prop accumulated 24 carry metres on eight carries, 10 tackles (100% completion), 31 ruck arrivals, and two offloads as an impact player throughout 2021.
A crossover athlete from gridiron football, the 6’1”, 260-pound former defensive lineman enjoyed a successful post-secondary career at his hometown Universite Laval – highlighted by earning a Vanier Cup national championship in 2016 – before turning his attention to rugby.
Ouellet is a graduate of Rugby Canada’s Pacific Pride national development program, and played his grassroots rugby with Club de Rugby de Quebec.

“Jack took a big step in 2021, and despite facing all the challenges that come with playing an entire season abroad, he continuously improved as the season went on. As the youngest member of our player leadership group last year, his dedication to his craft was unwavering. We’re looking forward to seeing Jack build on his momentum and continue his progression in 2022.”
“Ollie and Marc fared very well as late-season reinforcements for us last year, and showed they have plenty to offer. We know that both Canadian forwards will come into training camp hungry and eager to compete for minutes in 2022.”
The Arrows have now signed nine players ahead of the club’s 2022 MLR campaign.
The club will be making additional signing announcements in the coming weeks as 2022 season preparations continue to build.
