Toronto Arrows Announce Signing of English Loose Forward Eadie
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TORONTO, ON – The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce the signing of English loose forward Mitch Eadie for the 2023 Major League Rugby season.
Eadie, 30, arrives at the club from Premiership Rugby side Bristol Bears, where the No. 8 / flanker has served as a standout player and respected leader for the better part of the past decade.
“I can’t wait to get started with the Arrows,” said Eadie. “With the way the sport has grown in North America over the past few years, this is the perfect opportunity for a new challenge with an ambitious team that’s on the rise, and for me to step out of my comfort zone a little bit.”
“In speaking with the coaches, and in speaking with Mark [Winokur] and Bill [Webb], it’s clear that the Arrows have serious ambition, and that the club’s goals sync up with my own personal and professional ambitions. When it comes down to the direction the Arrows are going, joining the club became an easy decision.”
“My family and I are very excited to make the move to Toronto. Everything that we’ve heard about Canada has been fantastic, and while it’s a big decision to move to a new continent, we decided that if we’re going to do it, we’re going to do it properly. This is a city and an organization where we’ll feel comfortable but will give us a chance to experience something new.”
“We’re really looking forward to embracing this new adventure, and I can’t wait to get stuck in and help the Arrows win a championship.”
The six-foot-three, 240-pound forward made more than 150 appearances for his hometown club across two stints between 2010 and 2022, notably helping Bristol secure promotion to the Premiership in 2016 after the club’s seven-year spell in the Championship. The Bristolian’s strong play and revered work ethic saw him earn two Players’ Player of the Season awards from his peers within the club.
Eadie also spent three seasons with Premiership side Northampton Saints between 2017 and 2020, and won Scotland honours at the under-20 level.
“Mitch is one of the most popular players in Bristol history and has established himself as a top-shelf Premiership player,” said Mark Winokur, Toronto Arrows Chief Operating Officer and General Manager. “To have someone like Mitch in our environment is a big plus, and we can’t wait to have him, Georgia, and their daughters join our family. Mitch will bring an edge to our pack and our dressing room, and we are delighted to be welcoming him to Toronto.”
The club will be making additional signing announcements in the coming weeks as 2023 season preparations continue to build.
The window to place a deposit to secure 2023 season memberships for the lowest possible price is now open. Earlybird pricing packages for the club’s home matches at York Lions Stadium start at just $70 for a limited time only.
