
Toronto Arrows Announce Lineup for NOLA Clash

MARIETTA, GA – Toronto Arrows Director of Rugby Chris Silverthorn has named his starting lineup for tomorrow’s ‘home’ clash with the NOLA Gold at Life University.
Seventeen Canadians have been included in Toronto’s 23-man lineup, with 11 featuring in the starting 15. 2019 All-MLR 1st XV prop Rob Brouwer will make his season debut, while new signings Alex Janlin and Ronan Foley are in contention for their first caps off the bench.
Thirteen full internationals have been named to the Arrows’ matchday squad, carrying a combined cap total of 333 matches.
Squad Notes:
- Diana is ranked 1st in MLR in carries (163), 2nd in offloads (14), 6th in tackle breaks (40), 6th in carry metres (850)
- Rumball is ranked 1st in MLR in breakdown steals (20), 1st in defensive ruck arrivals (116), 3rd in attacking ruck arrivals (226), 4th in tackles (143), 8th in carries (112)
- Mieres is ranked 2nd in MLR in offloads (14), 9th in linebreaks (10)
- LeSage is ranked 6th in MLR in offloads (13), 7th in linebreaks (13)
- Ciulini is ranked 7th in MLR in lineout steals (5)
- Braude is ranked 8th in MLR in kicks (63)
- Tuculet is ranked 10th in MLR in offloads (11)
- Eight squad members are full Canadian internationals: Brouwer (11 caps), Ciulini (8 caps), Ferguson (10 caps) Kelly (1 cap), LeSage (16 caps), Quattrin (5 caps), Rumball (35 caps), Sheppard (11 caps)
- Three squad members are full Uruguayan internationals: Diana (27 caps), Leivas (76 caps), Mieres (72 caps)
- Two squad members are full Argentinian internationals: Cortes (5 caps), Tuculet (56 caps)
Tomorrow’s match marks the fourth league meeting between Toronto and New Orleans. The Gold were victorious in both 2019 fixtures, and bested the Arrows again in Louisiana earlier this season, 22-14.
The Gold (6-4-1; 34 points) are coming off a narrow 25-21 away win over Old Glory DC to keep their playoff hopes alive, while the Arrows (4-8; 23 points) are looking to bounce back after a 47-21 road loss to Austin.
Saturday’s game will kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET. The Eastern Conference tilt will stream on TSN.ca and the TSN App for Canadian audiences, and will be available on The Rugby Network for American and international audiences. Full broadcast details can be found here.
