Three May Fixtures Announced for Arrows Academy
TORONTO, ON – Three spring matches have been announced for the Toronto Arrows Senior Academy, with the young Arrows set for a home-and-home series with the New York Foundry before squaring off against the New England Independents in Oakville.
The Arrows Academy will kick off their May campaign with a road trip to Hoboken, NJ, where they’ll meet New York’s up-and-comers on Sunday, May 1.
The return fixture is scheduled for Sunday, May 8 at York Alumni Stadium, preceding the clash between the two senior teams held next door at York Lions Stadium later in the day. UPDATE: The return fixture previously scheduled for May 8 has been postponed. The two clubs hope to reschedule the game later this spring.
Later in the month, the Arrows Academy will welcome New England’s development side to Crusaders Park in Oakville for a Victoria Day Weekend tilt on Saturday, May 21.

“Having a series of matches like this allows us to see a number of different players from our regional training sites, while providing us with an opportunity to build continuity from week to week,” said Cory Hector, Toronto Arrows Academy Director and Head Coach. “It also exposes the players to the demands of professional rugby and the week-in and week-out turnaround, all of which is critically important in developing the next wave of Toronto Arrows.”
The Arrows Academy’s 2022 campaign kicked off in early February, with under-18 to under-23 athletes training regularly at two regional sites in Ontario (Guelph, Kingston) and one in Quebec (Montreal).
The program then played its first match of its inaugural season when the young side travelled to Boston to take on the New England Independents on March 12.
The season-opening squad featured representation from 13 different Canadian post-secondary institutions and 19 different Canadian grassroots clubs.
Both Arrows Academy home matches will be open to spectators and will be free of charge to attend.
