Cole Keith

On the atmosphere in Fukuoka Hakatanomori Stadium:

“There were a bit of nerves there, obviously, but after you play 10 seconds you’re right into it and they’re gone. It was a really exciting time for me all day; I was pretty nervous and worked up all day, so it good to finally get [my first RWC game] under my belt.”

On hearing the chants of “CAN – A – DA” in the crowd throughout the match:

“There was definitely a lot of Canadian support here. Even the locals were all cheering for us. We definitely heard them out there, and it was nice to hear the Canada chants when we were playing. We noticed them, and it meant a lot, especially being so far from home.”

On preparing for the upcoming clash with the All Blacks:

“First thing now is just recovery. We’ll try to get the bodies right, back to 100%. Six days is plenty of time, so we’ll get a couple of good training sessions in there as well, and then it’ll be mostly clarity-type stuff. We’ve done all the hard work leading up to the match, so now it’s just nailing things down and getting the bodies feeling right for it.”

Paddy Parfrey

On the atmosphere in Fukuoka Hakatanomori Stadium:

“It was very exciting. The crowd was amazing, and the venue was nice. And then actually being out there to play, I was very excited. It was a great accomplishment to actually be able to play in a World Cup game, and it’s a good experience to share with my family. My dad and three brothers were here, along with a couple of my very good friends, so it was nice to see them in the crowd… but we’re obviously very disappointed with the way the scoreboard went.”

On hearing the chants of “CAN – A – DA” in the crowd throughout the match:

“Especially when they get the Canada chants going, it’s an honour to receive such a welcome from the Japanese locals. It’s very great for us to experience that in a game halfway around the world, and we’re just disappointed with the match, but having that crowd support us that way is a really cool experience. We can definitely feel it.”

On preparing for the upcoming clash with the All Blacks:

“First things first, it’s just recovery. We’ve got six days, and we’ve got a couple beat-up bodies… we’re thinking about recovery first, then do some preview and review. Obviously we’re playing against a very good team, so we’re going to have to do a lot of work.”
