STARTING XV: Ontario Arrows Name Lineup for First Meeting with Rugby United New York

16 March 2018

Ontario Arrows head coach Chris Silverthorn has named his starting lineup for Saturday’s away clash against newly-appointed Major League Rugby side Rugby United New York.

Silverthorn has made three changes to his Arrows side that drew MLR’s Houston SaberCats 28-28 on Mar. 3, opting to bring in backs Josh Campbell and Kyle Lagasca, as well as lock Tom Van Horne.

Squad Notes:

– Five Arrows will make their first start for the club: Kelly, Lagasca, Lynott, McRogers, J. Van Horne
– Two players are in contention to make their Arrows debut off the substitutes’ bench: Smith, T. Van Horne
– Campbell and Lagasca return to the Arrows lineup after featuring in Ontario’s first-ever match last fall (Sept. 9, 2017 vs. Glendale Merlins)
– Four squad members are full Canadian internationals: Brouwer (9 caps), Ciulini (6 caps), Dolezel (16 caps), Wilson (1 cap)

Rugby United New York recently joined MLR as an associate member; New York’s first professional rugby team will play an exhibition schedule in 2018 before playing a full MLR schedule beginning in 2019.

Saturday’s match will be played at Iona College’s Mazzela Field, and will kick off at 2 p.m. EDT.
